Mindset and Motivation

This week on Mike’s Marketing Minutes, we’re talking about motivation and mindset.  Join me now…

Hey! It’s Mike here from M Business and Marketing Solutions. Today, I want to talk to you about “Mindset and Motivation.”

It’s interesting especially with what’s going on with COVID19. I’ve seen a lot of businesses just think that they’re not going to make it and they’ve really struggled. But I have also found that people that have had a really good mindset, those who really have this clarity and drive, they’ve just gone to strength to strength.

So why is that?

Let me sort of give you a bit of a heads up on how the mind works. I love the saying,

Mindset and Motivation

Our success in business is very much about what we think and it goes from our personal life. It goes in every single area of our life. So it’s really important that we stay motivated and we have that mindset of success.

Many years ago, I listened to the Earl Nightingales recording, “The Strangest Secret in the World” and in Earl Nightinggale’s recording it talks about a guy who is called Acres of Diamonds. The story goes on to say that this guy wanted to find diamonds. He was fascinated with it and he left his home. He sold his house. He did everything. He went to the other side of the world and eventually with his last breath he died and he didn’t find what he was looking for.

Acres of Diamonds - Mike's Marketing Minutes

What was interesting is this, the person who bought his house, after he bought his house literally found that he was sitting on acres of diamonds. So it was like sometimes, it’s important to know what you have rather than trying to look out there and trying to get something more.

Appreciate what you have and build on what you have. Build on your strengths. Build on who you are rather trying to copy somebody else. So i love the Thomas Edison verse that says,

Thomas Edison verse - Mike's Marketing Minutes

You know it’s crazy! Like as I have said, it really relates even to our personal life. I remember the story for me with regards to exercise.

I remember when i was in high school and I was on a camp. I had to go up. I’d climb up this sort of mountain and we were sort of doing a race a relay and I went up against this person. She just went straight up to the top and everyone laughed at me that I was slow and I wasn’t doing it as quick.

I always got this thing in my head that I’m not good. I’m not good at exercise  I don’t like exercise. I don’t like sport. I don’t like anything to do with that type of thing and it followed me through all of my life.

In the last five years I’ve really tried hard to get into the gym, but it hasn’t been something that I really have liked. Over the last few weeks, I’ve started to analyze because actually I think it’s important. I think it’s really important to be active, be alive and to push your body forward. I’m thinking, “Why don’t I feel that way?” and I remembered that it’s my mindset.

So the last couple of weeks, I’ve changed my mindset and only in like just one week, I’ve actually like the gains that i’ve got from lifting weights. I’ve gone like on a dead lift up to 30 kilos in two weeks. It’s just crazy! But it’s not that my muscles are stronger. It’s not like anything like that. It’s just that my mindset, my mind, says “I’m strong,” “I’m powerful,” “I can do this this,” “This is exciting,” and “This is challenging.”

You are stronger than you think -Mike's Marketing Minutes

I think these carries into every single area of your life and so this week I want to every day put up a motivational quote on social media and really encourage you to be more than what you can be.  Be more than what you think you could be and because you are what you think about all day long, it is what it is our brain will believe in.

I hope you have enjoyed today and if you do have a favorite quote of success post it below in the comment section. I’d love to post it as well. Thanks for your time. Have a great day!

What’s Your Why?

What’s Your Why?

What’s Your Why?

Hi! This week on Mike’s Marketing Minutes. I’m talking about the “why”. Why are you in business? Why do you do it?

I’m talking about W-H-Y! What is your why?

Let me give you an example. I met a lot of business people and a lot of business people are miserable. I don’t even know how they’re keeping their business. But successful business people simply just have this passion. They seem to have this enthusiasm. But most of all they have a thing called “persistence.” Now I remember starting in business years ago and man you know,

I used to door knock.

I used to door knock businesses.

I used to door knock to get sales, to get enquiries.

For me as a young guy trying to start a new business, I didn’t have the cash flow. It was the only way that I could actually do.

I’ve been attacked by two German Shepherds.

I’ve been attacked by four dogs at one point.

I had my clipboard, I was waking up and yelling at the top of my lungs. I’ve had a gun pointed at me. I have you thinking,

“Wait where were you door knocking?”

“Suburbia”

Once I went into a premise and it turned out to be an outlaw biker gang and all of a sudden all these motorbikes came roaring in and I was like oh what the hell! So but why? Why did I do it?

it’s because of the persistence. I knew the “me” and where I was. That’s what I needed to do to get the job done and you know you might be thinking today:

“I just don’t have it anymore.”

“I just I’m tired.”

“I don’t have that feeling of where my business is going and what I need and what I do.”

You know at the end of the day you’ve got to ask yourself,

“Why did you get into this business in the first place?”

“What gets you up in the morning?”

If you don’t have the answers to these questions, then you’ve got to go back. You’ve really got to go back to where it all started. You’ve got to go back and even refresh it. You know refresh, restart and renew the day.

refresh, restart and renew the day.

Look at it coming into where you are now. If you’re in business, it’s fantastic that you are in business. At this time in history, especially with what’s going on in Australia and the world at the moment, if you’re doing well in business that’s fantastic and I want to really support those people.

If you need a hand with getting to that next point or if you need a hand with that refresh we are at the end of a phone call. That’s us!

Hey! Let me know what’s your “why” today? Put it in the comments below.

What is an Elevator Pitch?

What is an Elevator Pitch?

What is an Elevator Pitch?

Hi everybody, Mike here from M Business and Tradie Directory Australia

Today I want to talk to you about an elevator pitch. We’ve been discussing many things during the last two sessions of Mike’s Marketing Minutes Live via Facebook and Instagram.

We’ve been talking about how to stand out in the crowd. What is it that you can do that is unique? How can you leverage your ‘competition’?

Well, I think an elevator pitch is a really important thing because what an elevator pitch does, is it gives you 60 seconds to be able to do something very quickly, this means gaining that real interest that you want.

How does it work?

You may have seen it on shark tank where they’ve come in, they’ve done their presentation, they’ve put their pitch out there, they’ve put it, what makes them unique? LA, LA, LA. But, I want to put a different spin on that. And when I say a different spin, what I mean is I think that for me, an elevator pitch should involve four different areas.

Three Areas to Consider On Your Elevator Pitch

✓ WHAT?

The first one is what? What is it?

What is it that you’re actually trying to sell? What are you a pro at? What are your services? What are you? What are your products? Who are you?

✓ WHY?

The second one is why. Why would someone be interested in what you have rather than your competitors? So what makes you stand out from the pack? What makes you different? What is it?

✓ TESTIMONIALS and FEEDBACK

The third thing, what do your customers say. Do you have a story that you have you’ve done recently? It can be a testimony or a testimonial that you’ve done for your customer and for what you guarantee your offer. That’s pretty much it.

Sample Elevator Pitch

So the first thing that you do, is to introduce yourself. You may say,

“Look! Hey, you know, we’re a digital agency. We’re not only a digital agency, but we also are a training organization. We help our customers over the last 12 years, gain more clients, get more leads for our customers. So what makes us a little bit different? Well, we get things done on time at a fixed price with no surprises. And at the moment, this is our offer. This is what we’re doing at the moment. We’re doing X, Y, Zed. Um, we’re very, very excited. Our customers are very, very excited. We’ve been working with a lot of our customers the last eight years and, and you know, I’ve got some great stories that I like to share with you. One particular client has this …”

That’s pretty much 60 seconds. That’s all you need. That’s what it is. And you know, really just for me, it’s then leading this 60-second conversation into the next thing.

How to Close Your Elevator Pitch?

What is an alternative close?

Do you know when would be a good time to catch up? Tuesday or Wednesday? Morning or afternoon?

Book an appointment that they and you will be available.

That is it, that is it. That’s, that’s the 60 seconds. It’s not rocket science. It’s supposed to be like that.

So stand out! Get down with your elevator pitch because it literally is like, you’re in an elevator, you’ve got 60 seconds. You might even have less than 60 seconds. What is it that you’re going to say that’s going to make you stand out?

Be Will Smith of The Pursuit of Happiness

You know, we just watched the movie the Pursuit of Happiness again. And I love that movie so much. You know, will Smith plies the pot off the would-be stockbroker. And I love the part where he took an opportunity. He had the Rubik’s cube and this guy was trying to do it and he knew he had a bit of a feeling that if he did the Rubik’s cube, he could stand out. He could be, you know, that next stockbroker he could get into the program.

And you know, he only had a fixed amount of time because it was in the taxi between, you know, the work and where he was going to be dropped off. So he quickly did it and the guy just stood there and he just was mesmerized. He did something different.

CONCLUSION:

Tonight, I want to encourage you in these tough crisis times, do something different. Stand out from the crowd. Have you enjoyed it, talk to you very, very soon. Hey, you got any questions? Please post some questions you’d like to know in regards to marketing what you can do for your business. I’d love to hear from you guys..
